Sampler Musings by Brenda Keyes - Block One

Here is my finish of the first out of four blocks on this mini sampler by Brenda Keyes - I had to put some french knots in his death-like stare, he was freaking me out otherwise.  I am using 3 strands over 2 on this, love the look 3 strands give.
Does anyone know what La Mer means?

Here is what it will look like once finished.

Thankyou for looking,
Amanda

  1. Looks so nice. I think La Mer means the ocean or the sea?

  2. Your stitching is beautiful. I am pretty sure La Mer means the sea in french. I took french over 40 years ago but that's what comes to mind.

  4. So cute! I think La Mer means the ocean in French. I'm only saying that because "frutti di mare" means fruit of the sea in Italian :P

  13. Starting a new project is always such fun--selecting the design, fabric and fibers. (Sometimes I get bogged down in the middle part)

  15. Adorable! I love the Brenda Keyes designs... I have three or four of my own going. I can't wait to see it finished, they would also look great as stand-alone pieces as well.
